The Angus Glens
Leading into some of the most atmospheric of Scotland's unspoilt places, the Angus Glens offers moorland colours, the scents of heather and grasses, and fresh pure melt-water in the high burns. The Angus Glens include ten 'Munros' (mountains of over 3,000 ft), and miles of narrow twisting and bendy roads, offer great delights and challenges for drivers, hill walkers, and nature lovers alike. Arguably the most beautiful of the Angus Glens is Glen Clova, (north of Kirriemuir). At the head of Glen Clova is Glen Doll, where ancient narrow roads and footpaths take you into the heart of Scotland's Cairngorm Mountains.

Kirriemuir
Kirriemuir is regarded as the gateway to the Angus Glens. The small county town is also famously known as the birthplace of novelist JM Barrie, who created the much loved, children's character Peter Pan. Look out for the statue of Peter Pan at the centre of winding and narrow cobbled streets, and visit National Trust for Scotland's imaginative exhibition featuring life-size figures, theatre posters and stage costumes. Be sure to visit the little washhouse, which inspired Barrie's creation of the Wendy House in "Peter Pan". The Camera Obscura on Kirriemuir Hill offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, and birdwatchers and nature lovers will enjoy the RSPB nature reserve at Loch of Kinnordy, which is a Mecca for wetland birds, offering wonderful bird-watching. Singing is almost a way of life in the town, with the annual Kirriemuir Festival of Traditional Music and Song - a weekend event of ceilidhs, music and story-telling sessions; and now on the scene is the Hairst, a three-month long festival from July to September, which celebrates the best in traditional and contemporary arts in Angus.
