What our Guests Say About Us

We loved staying overnight at Balmashanner - very comfortable rooms, Lovely views, convenient for fulfilling our business, excellent breakfast and very friendly hosts. Only slight problem was queueing for the bathroom!! But I would certainly return, and probably will before very long. Thank you very much, Marie and Rob.

We had a great stay - a lovely home in great surroundings and the breakfast was top!
Thoroughly recommended.

A fantastic place to stay. Worth it just for having huge breakfasts while waiting the parade of pheasants walking through the garden. But that would be to neglect the huge and lovely dinners cooked by Marie - and the beautiful house itself.

I have stayed at Balmashanner twice and thoroughly enjoyed my stays, such welcoming hosts and an extremely comfortable home. My visits to the area were work related but I was so pleased to stay at such a friendly and relaxing place, I hopefully intend to make the next stay a holiday and take in some of the beautiful countryside. I would recommend Balmashanner to anyone who enjoys fine surroundings and a true welcome.

Spent three nights at Balmashanner at the end of October 2009. We were very impressed with the accommodation and the service provided. Rob and Marie were very helpful and couldnt have been better hosts. The situation feels very rural but at the same time it takes but a few minutes to go into Forfar. Look forward to staying again.

My daughter and I spent a lovely evening and morning at Balmashanner in late May. The accommodations could not have been nicer. Everything was sparkling clean, the amenities charming, and a superb breakfast served right in our room. All this plus a wonderful view over the Vale of Strathmore and a friendly farm yard made us very happy. Our host and hostess, Rob and Marie, were also quite helpful with both directions and suggestions for other visits in the area. We highly recommend Balmashanner Guest House for anyone visiting this region of Scotland.

WE ATTENDED A WONDERFUL BALL IN ANGUS AND WE COULD NOT GET BOOKED IN A LOCAL HOTEL.
FACED WITH A COSTLY TAXI JOURNEY WE SEARCHED ON LINE FOR A GUEST HOUSE LOCAL TO THE EVENT AND WHAT A FIND!
THIS WAS THE "ICING ON THE CAKE" FOR OUR STAY OVER.
SPOTLESSLEY CLEAN, DEADLY QUIET; FANTASTIC BREAKFAST AND LOVELY GENUINE HOSTS.
JUST PERFECT!

We had a little bit of trouble finding you, but once we got there, we were delighted with the house. Lovely, comfortable room (we were in the Angus room). We enjoyed relaxing with the view and watching television, and really appreciated being able to check our email after a week away from home. Great breakfast the next morning got us off to a good start as we went off to Glamis Castle and grounds. Thanks for your hospitality! All the best to you both and to the pups!

Had a very enjoyable stay. Thank you for your hospitality and for the delicious breakfasts. Balmashanner is in such a stunning location and is so very peaceful.
I hope you will see this as a positive comment - We personally would prefer to have breakfast in a separate room, rather than the bedroom. We felt that unfortunately, as delicious as breakfast was, the after smell of a cooked breakfast lingers in the bedroom and is a bit offputting.
Hopefully we will be able to visit you again for a stay someday.

Dear Rob and Marie, we really enjoyed our stay in your b&b.
The place is enchanting and we found the peace and quiet we needed.
Your service was excellent, the breakfasts so tasty. The room was very romantic.
Marie, you're a very kind person.
Rob, we hope to meet you next time we'll be in Scotaland because we surely visit Balmashanner again.

A stunning location and house, and welcoming hosts. My weekend trip was to take part in Forfar long distance cycle rides and even after a day in the saddle, I could not do justice to the superb meals (Huge helpings!). There are more long distance rides taking place from Forfar and I know I couldn't do better than to repeat my visit to Marie and Rob's home.

Hello Rob and Marie ! Thank you for taking good care off me during my stay at Balmashanner ! The food was as usual excellently prepared and tasteful ! Marie is a very good chef. I had a splendid time with my sister and hopefully Vanja and I soon will come back to Forfar. I will send you a mail in good time and hope that you have a vacant room for us at that time. Hope Rob is getting better from his cold now , give him something warm to drink, that usually helps ??
Well now I am home again in plenty of snow just hoping that spring soon will come ! Once again, thanks for making my stay really pleasant!
Until next time, love and best wishes from Olaf.

Dear Rob and Marie,
Thank you so much for your hospitality. We had a wonderful stay with you. The room was gorgeous and so comfortable and the setting lovely. The breakfast was amazing and your kindness in helping remedy our hangovers was very much appreciated! We would certainly come and stay again.

I had a lovely time at Balmashaner - the room was comfortable, the breakfast tasty (and veggie-friendly), and the views spectacular. The B&B presents its guests with a country-feel, even though it is conveniently located just five minutes from town. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone touring the region or looking for a quiet spot to get away from it all.

The most wonderful and hospitable place to stay in Angus. We thoroughly enjoyed the room, scenery and fantastic breakfasts, and the dogs both enjoyed being able to stay with us there too.
We would have no hesitation staying there again and look forward to seeing Marie again, along with the ever growing menagerie outside! We hope the dogs didnt miss us too much after we left!
Heres to another holiday in bonny Scotland soon......

4th visit, I love coming here, home from home. This time I happened to be staying here when it was my birthday. Rob and Marie went way out of their way to make sure I had a lovely day. Beautiful food cooked by Marie. Generous, kind and genuine people.
