Balmashanner House is situated on top of a hill in rural Angus near to Forfar and is only minutes from the A90 road network which services Dundee and Aberdeen. The high vantage point affords extensive views over the Vale of Strathmore to the west and the Braes of Angus to the north. Close to the War Memorial is a shelter and indicator. We are only 5 minutes from Forfar town centre.
Balmashanner House dates back to the 17th century with the Royal Burgh of Forfar being once the centre of the kingdom of Picts – the regions first settlers. Puzzling reminders of the area’s earliest inhabitants spring up around the fertile Strathmore Valley in which Balmashanner proudly sits, with mysterious shapes carved deep into the solitary stones scattered around the land.Our beautiful but central location will suit leisure, business, anglers, walkers, cyclists, shooting, and wildlife guests alike, we also accept dogs for a small fee. There are many places to walk your dogs within walking distance of our property off the main road allowing you to enjoy this beautiful countryside without any interruption of traffic.
Keen golfers have access to the many golf courses including Carnoustie, St Andrews, and locally there is the Forfar, Arbroath, Montrose, Brechin, Edzell (discount vouchers available), Kirriemuir, Letham Grange Golf Clubs who accept day membership.Aberdeen is 45 minutes away, and Glasgow and Edinburgh are less than 2 hours drive. Local towns include Kirriemuir (home of JM Barrie – Author of Peter Pan), Dundee and Perth. We are only 8 miles from Glamis Castle. Locally there are plenty of amenities which are only 5 minutes from Balmashanner.
